Thank you for entering the Ian Hesketh Memorial Duathlon.
Registration will take place at Rivington Primary School from 7.45am. Please do not park on Horrobin Lane between the Bowling Club and Rivington Primary School (transition area). This is for competitors safety.
RACE LICENCES
On registration, ALL competitors are required to show their British Triathlon (BT) race licence.
Single event licences are available here (we need to get the wording of this correct and a hyperlink put in)
If you are racing as a relay team, EACH team member must have a valid BT race licence.
In addition, relay teams must register at the same time as we cannot give numbers out to one member of the team.
AFTER REGISTRATION:
Please take your bike and any other equipment you need to the transition area where you can rack your bike. Please remember:
To wear your cycle helmet (fastened) as you enter the transition area.
Competitors only are allowed in transition.
You should not use your mobile phone once you enter the transition area.
Race briefing will take place 15 minutes before race starts.
Helmets MUST be worn on the cycle course.
On completing the event you will be given a medal in exchange for your numbers. Prior to these instructions you can reccy the courses here.
Run 1 and 2 (5k)
The run takes competitors from Rivington Primary School through the woods and paths of the Rivington Estate. Runners will pass the Lower Barn, the ruins of Liverpool Castle and the picturesque Lower Rivington Reservoir before returning to the School for transition to the bike. As the majority of the run route takes runners through forest paths and trails, we advise you to wear appropriate footwear for the conditions. The course is fully marshalled and well signposted.
Transition 1
After completing the run you enter the transition area. Before removing your bike you MUST put your Helmet on. Leave the transition area as directed, only mounting your bike at the MOUNT BIKE line. Join traffic when it is safe to do so (watch out for pedestrians near the Church).
Cycle Route 22k (3 laps)
The cycle route is on tarmac roads. IT IS NOT A CLOSED ROAD EVENT so cyclists must be aware of traffic and obey the rules of the road. There are marshals on each of the four left hand turns on the course. We strongly recommend you stop at the three ‘give way’ junctions to check for traffic. Cyclists should be aware that the final corner before the start of the second and third loops is a very sharp left hand bend. Marshals will indicate that you should slow down at this point.
Transition 2
On re-entering transition, rack your bike BEFORE REMOVING YOUR HELMET. Ensure your number is on the front of your body and enter the final run route.
